The Greek community of IPTS is pleased to announce that it is organising within the frame of the so called Hellenic Presidency of the EU Semester 2014 the following events for presenting and promoting the Greek culture:
- 18 February 2014: 40 Greek and Spanish high school students and accompanying teachers visited IPTS premises.
- 24 February 2014: Inception of the Hellenic Semester at IPTS and lecture by Prof. and ex-minister Tassos Giannitsis entitled 'Crisis management in Greece and Europe: Macroeconomic vs. Structural Approaches.
- 26 February-June 2014: Movie time! One Greek movie per month in A30 after hours (18:00-20:00) with introduction by local fan/expert. The first movie, Πολίτικη Κουζίνα - A touch of spice (2003), is going to be projected (with English subtitles) in 26th of February in A30 at 18:00. Further projections will be organized.
- 17 March 2014: The Antikythera Mechanism: Discovery - Techniques - Research - Application. Lecture by Prof. Seiradakis (University of Thessaloniki) - Video conference with ISPRA.
- 2 April 2014: Wine tasting session (2 white + 3 red) lead by an invited Greek oenologist and wine maker (cost: 20 € per person).
- February-June 2014: Cafeteria / Club: Introduction of Greek food in their menu.
- March-June 2014: Exhibition at IPTS corridors - Posters with 36 Greek paintings representing the main Greek painters and art movements.
- March-June 2014: Greek dance lessons from February to June in the Social Room.
- May 2014: Greek poetry night - place and exact date to be announced.
- May-June 2014: Workshops with children and parents creating traditional Greek toys with simple tools and recycled materials.
- 11 June 2014: Greek Music Night: a group of professional Greek musicians will demonstrate and explain the basics of Greek music - place to be announced
- 6 or 13 June 2014: Greek party: with live Greek and Rock music and a plethora of traditional Greek food (Cost: 25 € per person).
